Winning this award was probably the biggest surprise of my entire life. My husband knew, he has had more confidence in me than I've had in myself. When they called my name, he was half way to the stage before I even knew what happened. I was enjoying the dinner the incredible people of the Jubilee Festival of arts provided to us without a thought in the world that my name would be called.
Once I caught eyes with my amazing husband who had tears streaming down his face and the biggest smile on his face as he was walking to the stage, I immediately started crying. My dreams of being an underwater photographer felt real for first time.
I sold my first photograph at this art show to one of the sweetest ladies I could have met and she has now become a collector. I would have been happy to have just some great conversations this weekend, but I sold so many pieces we had to go frame more in the middle of the first night.
On top of the success of my first art show.... I won an award. Wow. This is a weekend I will never forget. One of the happiest times of my entire life. My passion for all things scuba diving just took things to another level.
I was in total shock that I was awarded with second place in the photography category. The fact that other people saw the potential in me and my work still surpasses my wildest dreams.
I am not sure which of the 3 juried art shows I've been apart of surprised me the most with winning an award. To say that I was in shock at all 3 would be an understatement.
This Orange Beach Festival of Arts show is ranked in the top 50 fine arts shows in the country!! Just being accepted into this show felt like a huge accomplishment.
The amazing people of the Orange Beach Festival of Arts hosted us a beautiful dinner and all of a sudden my name was called!! 3rd place in all of the 3-d category, which was most of the art at the show. WOW!
I cried like a fool in front of over 100 very seasoned and accomplished artists. I was the only one who cried... of course! But those tears, every single one is my passion flowing out of me. I tend to be a perfectionist and I work very very hard, so to be honored in this way breaks down my walls of work and shows me that is paying off!
